Privacy Policy

At GNS3 we value the confidentiality and security of information about our community members and the organizations they represent. This GNS3 Privacy Policy describes how we handle personal and company information when you use the GNS3 software ("Software") and Community Portal ("Portal"), including the details provided when you sign up for the community and download the GNS3 software (collectively, the Portal and the Software are referred to as the "Platform").

Why We Collect Information

GNS3 collects information and data to in order to help us refine the Platform - with the goal of providing a more enhanced user experience. We always strive to customize the user experience based on the unique environment and circumstances of the user, therefore your feedback is key to help us achieve this goal. In gathering this information it enables GNS3 to connect you with other Network Professionals in the Portal, provide you with up to date information and discussions that you might be interested in, and bring information about new network products and services that you may need.

What Information We Collect

When you sign up for a GNS3 account, we ask you for personal information such as your name, email address, company name and network certifications to create a profile ("Profile"). For your convenience, we allow you to register to join GNS3 by using log in credentials from third-party social networking sites ("SNS") such as Facebook. If you register via a SNS, you will be providing us with the some of the personal information you have already provided to the SNS. With the exception of your email which is never viewable, some of the information provided from your SNS may be viewable by persons who visit GNS3 which you can control by editing your GNS3 profile. This information is never shared with third parties without your permission.

If you chose to complete the personal information sections of your Profile you should be aware that this information is visible to other users (the "Community"). Personally identifiable information you submit to your profile, any of our forums or discussion groups are considered publicly available outside the GNS3 network and can be read, collected, or used by other members of the Community to send you unsolicited messages. You may edit and delete this information at any time, but in some cases this may impact your ability to use the Platform. To request removal of your personal information from our Community contact us at privacy@gns3.com. In some cases, we may not be able to remove your personal information, in which case we will let you know if we are unable to do so and why.

Cookies

GNS3 uses cookies, alphanumeric identifiers in the form of text files that are stored on your computer, to make GNS3 easier to use, to improve our content marketing, and to protect you and GNS3. You can remove or block cookies using the settings in your browser, but in some cases that may impact your ability to use the GNS3.

Where we use third party service providers acting on our behalf, they are required to abide by this Privacy Policy. Many of the advertisements you see when using GNS3 have been placed by third parties. These third parties may choose to use their own cookies for the purposes of collecting information relating to the viewing of their advertising. This Privacy Policy is intended to cover the use of cookies implemented by GNS3 and does not describe third party cookies in detail.

How We Use Your Information

We use your email address to contact you about administrative notices, community activity, product updates, offers and promotions, and general news about GNS3 and our partners. The frequency of these emails varies based on the type of notification. You can manage your email preferences with respect to content and delivery or you may unsubscribe from all emails about GNS3 and our partners.

We may use third party service providers to help us deliver parts of the Platform. When we use third parties to assist us in processing your personal information, we require that they comply with our Privacy Policy and any other appropriate confidentiality and security measures. For example, we use a third party service to manage our email marketing campaigns. This system stores your name, email address and the date on which you registered. The Platform provider is required to adhere to all terms and conditions of this privacy policy.

We may share anonymous aggregated information with third parties outside of GNS3, such as advertisers and market research firms approved by GNS3, for their marketing purposes. For example, we share with advertisers the breakdown of our user community by region and industry. When we share such information it does not identify you or your company individually.

We also work with a third party to monitor certain pages of the Platform for the purpose of reporting traffic and other advertising statistics. Where authorized by us, this third party may use cookies and/or other monitoring technologies to compile anonymous statistics about our visitors. No personally identifiable information is transferred to this third party.

How We Disclose Your Information

GNS3 does not sell or rent your personal information or data and will disclose your personal information only in the following circumstances:

to analyze usage and improve the Platform;

to fulfill users requests for certain products upgrades, information and services;

for market research, project planning and protecting against error, fraud or other criminal activity;

to third-party contractors that provide services to GNS3 and are bound by these same privacy restrictions;

to enforce GNS3 Terms of Use; or

when we do a business deal, or negotiate a business deal, involving the sale or transfer of all or a part of our business or assets, including as a result of a merger, financing, acquisition, or bankruptcy transaction or proceeding;

to respond to lawful requests and legal processes and for safety purposes;

to comply with laws; or

as otherwise set forth in this Privacy Policy.

Your Choices

You can uninstall the Software through the "Add or Remove Programs" Control Panel at any time. When you uninstall the Software, the Software will be deleted. Once deleted it cannot be recovered.

If your personal or company information changes, you may update your information using the "Preferences" link or by clicking on your photo icon at the top of the Portal. GNS3 gives you full control over the content and information that you chose to disclose as part of your user profile and can edits the contents on an ongoing basis.

GNS3 will retain the information that you have provided in your profile and throughout the community so as long as your account is active. If you would like to terminate your account in the Portal please contact accounts@gns3.com. We will retain and use your information as necessary to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.

Information Confidentiality and Security

Access to your information is limited to GNS3 employees and contracted third parties, as needed, in order to operate, develop or improve our Platform. These individuals are bound by confidentiality obligations. They may be subject to discipline, including termination and criminal prosecution, if they fail to meet these obligations. When we use third parties to assist us, we require that they comply with all the same confidentiality and security measures. Nevertheless, no security system is impenetrable. We cannot and do not guarantee that information that you transmit or otherwise supply will be secure. GNS3 EXPRESSLY DISCLAIMS ANY REPRESENTATION OR WARRANTY, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, WITH RESPECT TO ENSURING, GUARANTEEING OR OTHERWISE OFFERING ANY DEFINITIVE PROMISE OF SECURITY IN CONNECTION WITH YOUR COLLECTED INFORMATION OR ANY OTHER INFORMATION THAT YOU PROVIDE TO US THROUGH THE PLATFORM.

Third-Party Sites

Please be aware that other websites that may be accessed through the Platform may collect personally identifiable information about you. Please note that the privacy policies of these sites may differ from those of GNS3. GNS3 is not responsible for the privacy policies and practices of any linked website. This Privacy Policy does not cover the information practices of those third-party websites linked to our site. We encourage you to read the privacy statement of any website you may visit.

Parts of the Platform includes Social Media Features, such as the Facebook Like button and Widgets, such as the Google Maps button or interactive mini-programs that run on our website. These Features may collect your IP address, which page you are visiting on our website, and may set a cookie to enable the Feature to function properly. Social Media Features and Widgets are either hosted by a third party or hosted directly on our website. Your interactions with these Features are governed by the privacy policy of the company providing it.

Children's Privacy

This service is not intended for or directed to persons under the age of 13. Any person who provides their information to the Company through the account login page for new customers or any other part of the Platform represents to the Company that they are 13 years of age or older.

Changes to Privacy Statement

GNS3 may update its privacy policy from time to time. When we change the policy in a material way a prominent notice will be posted on our website along with the updated privacy policy prior to the changes becoming effective. Please check this URL frequently to see the latest version of this policy.
